Poll Question: Underappreciated Fans

A small number of fans get most of the recognition in Southern fandom. Nobody disputes that these fans have earned their fame and high regard. They publish fanzines and manage conventions. They devote much of their spare time to our subculture, and we appreciate it.

But we have plenty of other people who work just as hard and do just as much good as the award winners, but who never get noticed. Maybe their contributions are more in behind-the-scenes roles, or they do not attract attention to themselves.

These unsung fans deserve to be appreciated for their work. They ought to be considered for Fan Guest of Honor at Southern conventions or for Rebel Awards. But we can't recognize them until we know who they are. That's your job.

Please send an E-mail to the Editor with your nominations of up to three people who have not been properly recognized for their contributions to Southern fandom. With any luck, the results will help future DSC committees as they decide on their Rebel Award winners. But we can at least give these poor souls our thanks and a quick 21-water-pistol salute.
